About this Event

A director/producer dream team can take years of searching and forced matchmaking, but it can also be love at first sight. In the name of transparency these one-on-one sessions are conceived to gain a better grasp of what it is you’re looking for and how to express it, the sessions will give you a taste of the forms the director-producer relationship can take and things to keep in mind.


The session will include opportunities with seven different producers, with 15 minutes available to speak with each producer. Please book no more than three sessions.


The participating producers are:

Denna Carthamkhoob is a producer, curator and development consultant working predominantly with artists. She works collaboratively with film-makers to develop non-traditional scripts and moving image work. She began her career working in a more commercial production company setting on music videos, short films, documentaries and supporting emerging talent. She now works independently and has produced films which have shown at Cannes, TIFF, Rotterdam, Berlinale, South by Southwest as well as galleries worldwide. She is currently developing Beatrice Gibson’s debut feature film with BBC Films.


Isra Al Kassi (T A P E COLLECTIVE) is a UK based Iraqi-Swedish producer, writer and curator and has a background in events and venue management. She is the co-founder of T A P E Collective, a cross-arts curatorial collective focusing on the mixed-heritage experience and supporting storytellers of a diaspora. T A P E recently went into distribution and production. Recent UK distributions include CETTE MAISON & BYE BYE TIBERIAS. Currently she is in development with a feature documentary.


Catherine Bray (Loop) is a journalist, writer/director & producer. She’s been working as a producer since 2013, together with Charlie Shackleton, and Anthony Ing, she founded Loop, a small independent production company. Credits include Beyond Clueless, Jill, Uncredited - Loop projects have played at festivals including Berlin, Sundance, SXSW, London, Rotterdam, Hotdocs and True/False.


Maxine Gordon (Queer Nigerians) is a BAFTA nominated TV producer who produces observational documentaries in the US and the UK. With several prolific music documentaries including for Channel 4 and the BBC. Most recent productions include short film The Archive: Queer Nigerians directed by Simisolaoluwa Akande.


Antonia Luxem works as Film & Broadcast Producer for the Roundhouse. She is co-founder of production collective Other People's Films that produces films and moving image work that sit at the intersection of experimental art films and conventional films. She previously worked as Senior Producer at creative media-on-demand production company Box Media and for Dazed Digital. Antonia has also produced and directed experimental films and music videos for a number of musicians, including Elena Tonra (Ex:Re/Daughter), Night Works, Holy Moly & The Crackers, Ruth Lyon, William Marsey, Culture Mile.


Gannesh Rajah is an award-winning producer, whose work spans a variety of formats and genres. He was awarded the prestigious Doc Society Fellowship, is a Sheffield DocFest Future Producer and BFI's Insight Producer alumni, became part of the BAFTA Connect and Film London’s Breaking the Glass Ceiling cohorts, and was named a Film London Lodestar (2023). Most recent credits include short film documentary Puffling and If The Streets Were On Fire which won two BIFA awards in 2023 include one for Best Feature Documentary.


Tolu Stedford (Story Compound) has over 20 years of experience in the entertainment industry as an actor, writer and producer for TV, Film and stage. Currently she is the co-founder and executive producer of Story Compounds. Tolu also assists with industry policy and is British Screen Forum's FUTURE LEADER, consulted for the BFI and Creative Industries Policy and Evidence Centre' INDUSTRY CHAMPION’. Recent credits include the short film documentary The Medallion.


Tobi Kyeremateng is a BAFTA-winning producer from South London. Working across narrative, documentary and moving image, Tobi has produced work internationally for renowned broadcasters and media such as BBC, BFI, Channel 4, Film4, Netflix, NOWNESS and Sky Arts, with moving image work being shown across 180 The Strand, Whitechapel Gallery, Kunstalle Bern, Sharjah Art Foundation and COP27. Her latest documentary, ‘Konan: Trapped In Trauma’ for Channel 4 was nominated for a British Journalism Award. She is currently an Associate Producer on a feature film with BBC Film and developing an art-documentary film to be shot in Kenya.
