Hjertelig velkommen til en aften om Ayurveda med filmvisning af dokumentaren ‘The Doctor from India’ (2018) om Dr. Vasant Lad og starten på Ayurvedic Institute. Dokumentaren er produceret af Jeremy Frindel, USA.
Filmen tager dig med til Indien og giver dig et tilbageblik på tiden i 1970’erne, hvor Ayurveda blev bragt ud af Indien til Vesten og frem til i dag. Som en af de første ayurvediske læger rejste Dr. Vasant Lad fra Indien til USA i 1970’erne. Det blev starten på The Ayurvedic Institute i Albuquerque, New Mexico, US.
Dokumentaren deler en både smuk og inspirerende historie om Dr. Lad, der har været den blide drivkraft bag årtiers etablering af en nyskabende tilgang til sundhed med Ayurvedas holistiske metoder for både krop og sind. Derudover skildres tiden i 1970’erne og frem med interviews af en lille gruppe af visionære foregangsfolk inden for Ayurveda, bl.a. Dr. Robert Svoboda, Dr. David Frawley, Dr. Deepak Chopra og Dr. Claudia Welch. De er alle i dag blandt verdens førende undervisere i Ayurveda.
Dr. Vasant Lad er i 80’erne og mere aktiv end altid. Han underviser fortsat ved The Ayurvedic Insitute, der for nyligt er flyttet til Asheville, North Carolina. Hvert år tilbringer Dr. Lad flere måneder i sin fødeby, Pune, Indien hvor han fortsat modtager klienter i sin første klinik, Pranav Clinic.

‘The Doctor From India’ is a meditative and immersive portrait of the life and work of Dr. Vasant Lad, BAMs & MASc, the holistic health pioneer who first brought the ancient medical practice of Ayurveda from India to the west in the late 1970s and established The Ayurvedic Insitute.
This is the beautiful and inspiring story of a man who has for decades been quietly at the center of a revolutionary movement to change the way we care for our bodies and our spirits.
Featuring Dr. Vasant Lad, Deepak Chopra, Robert Svoboda, David Frawley, and Claudia Welch.

***About the organiser***
Ms. Brit Kim from Daya Ayurveda will moderate the event and give an introduction to Ayurveda.
After the movie screening there will be an introduction of the board of a newly founded Danish association for Ayurveda for professionals, aiming to raise awareness on Ayurveda and its contribution to our everyday health, bridging the modern allopathic medicine and the traditional herbal medicine.
