About this Event
Synthesizer Soundbath at the Vintage Synthesizer Museum, Highland Park
Join us for a unique auditory experience at the Vintage Synthesizer Museum (VSM) in Highland Park. Immerse yourself in the soothing sounds of over 40 synthesizers, blending harmoniously through drones and arpeggiations from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM. Bring a pillow or two, and relax on the floor as you allow the ambient music to wash over you. Attendees are welcome to arrive or depart at any time during the session. This special soundbath will be performed by Sean Smith, aka LFZ.
Admission: $15
Please note: This event is designed for adults (18+) seeking relaxation, reflection, meditation, or simply a serene listening experience. We kindly ask that all guests maintain a quiet, peaceful atmosphere. While this soundbath offers a wonderful opportunity to experience VSM, it is not intended for hands-on interaction with the synthesizers. To explore and play the instruments, please schedule a session during our regular hours.
For the last decade LFZ has released myriad recordings with Castle Face and Stimulus Progression and is the catch-all for the explorative creativity of Sean Smith, who lives and works from his home studio in the foothills of the Angeles National Forest outside of Los Angeles, CA. Smith has a background in guitar based instrumental music beginning with a long stretch devoted to solo acoustic American Primitive before slowly incorporating electronic and other stringed instruments. LFZ is now a fully integrated apparatus of expression utilizing electric guitars, bass, analog synthesizers, and hardware effects. LFZ is in the lineage of electronic music practitioners like Laurie Spiegel, JD Emmanuel, Tangerine Dream, Vangelis, etc, and takes cues especially from artists whose idiosyncratic techniques facilitate unique musical outcomes. The music of LFZ is derived and created in relation to visual mental imagery and synesthesia and is always concerned with an often elaborate level of story building.
