The San Juan College (SJC) Symphonic Band warmly invites the community to an afternoon of rich musical storytelling on Sunday, December 14, at 3 p.m., in Henderson Performance Hall. This season’s performance celebrates American composers whose backgrounds and musical voices reflect the diversity and artistry found across the nation.Taking center stage is Featured Composer and Guest Conductor Colton Jackson, whose new work, Forevermore, receives its premiere at this concert. Jackson will lead the ensemble from the podium in a piece that promises to resonate deeply, weaving emotion and craft into every measure.
Also gracing the spotlight is Featured Soloist Samuel Nez performing James Barnes’ evocative Autumn Soliloquy. Nez’s sensitive interpretation brings the work’s reflective, seasonal beauty to life.
The program then lifts spirits with the jazzy wit of Julie Giroux’s Three Wise Guys, rounding out an afternoon that blends elegance, energy and heartfelt expression.
Under the direction of Melody Postoak, the SJC Symphonic Band presents a concert that evokes the shades of autumn warmth and winter’s quiet glow. This musical journey promises to be one you won’t want to miss.
