The Cause:
Steve Krok, known to many as Swizzle Steve, has been a driving force in the Chicago music scene for years. As a musician, talent buyer, boyfriend, stepfather, and friend, Steve has dedicated his life to helping others—whether it was booking shows for up-and-coming bands, supporting his partner Bernadette, or being a loving father figure to Ashton. His passion and kindness have touched thousands, giving countless musicians their first big break and making a lasting impact on everyone he meets.
Recently, Steve received devastating news: he has been diagnosed with stage 3 HPV cancer. The road ahead is daunting—he faces six weeks of intensive treatment, including chemotherapy every 21 days, radiation five days a week, and the placement of a feeding tube as he will soon lose the ability to talk or swallow. Because Steve is self-employed and works part-time, many of these critical treatments are not covered by insurance, putting an enormous financial strain on him and his family at the worst possible time.
We are rallying together to help Steve fight for his life. Every dollar raised will go directly toward his medical treatments and care, giving him the best chance at recovery.
