Hattiesburg kicks off its participation in the statewide America 250 Mississippi celebration with “Swingin’ the Stars and Stripes,” a free outdoor jazz concert on Friday, March 27, from 5:30–7 p.m. at the Craig Wiseman Bandshell at the Midtown Green.Presented in partnership with Visit Hattiesburg and FestivalSouth, the concert will feature the Southern Miss Jazz Studio Orchestra performing patriotic favorites and lively jazz arrangements with guest vocalists Katrina Cox and Doug Breau.
A commemorative painting by Hattiesburg artist Aubri Sparkman will be on display during the event, and the first 500 guests will receive a printed keepsake inspired by the piece.
Hot dogs, popcorn and beverages will also be available for purchase.
