Jazz Manouche, Hot Jazz, Swing Gitan, Gypsy Swing, Gypsy Jazz — however you call it, it's jazz music but done gypsy style. That means it's done with spirit, heart, soul, and rhythm, rhythm, rhythm!
This style of music can be enjoyed by people of all ages and all walks of life. It's mostly fun, fast, and light-hearted, but it can be relaxed and even a bit melancholy. Either way, there's always that "La Pompe," or the pump, as the classic gypsy jazz rhythm is called.
In its traditional form, gypsy jazz is guitar-based, with specialized guitars providing all the percussion, rhythm, and melody. A standup bass and a violin are common as well. Swing del Sur brings this 1930s-era music into the present for a unique and unforgettable sound.
