About this Event

SWEATBOX presents internationally celebrated DJ:

HiFi SEAN (Glitterbox / Defected Records)

(Main Room 4 Hour Set)

with DJ Paddy Scahill (Dark Bear Pit 4 Hour Set)

For our sweaty March instalment we are delighted to welcome International DJ and longtime friend of SWEATBOX; the beefy, beautiful and brilliant HiF SEAN.

Anyone who was there for one of his rare sets in the old basement of The Hub knows we are in for special night with a special 4 hour set of euphoric house. Over the years HiFi Sean has hit the heights of international DJ stardom, most notably with release of dance classic Testify which hit the #1 top slot on the Billboard Dance Chart in USA .

Our venue, Here & Now boasts Dublin's best sound system, as well as four bars over two levels, including our Bear Pit Darker Dance Floor upstairs. Sweatbox is a community space based on values of respect and inclusion - in short, it's full of sound people so be sound, and look after one another.

Music. Fellas. Booze.

More about HiFI Sean :

There are so many incredible chapters to Hifi Sean (aka Sean Dickson) musical journeys.

But let’s stick to the DJ one here. You want more ? Then delve into internet.

P.S … Prince once sang one of his songs.

Sean recently released a highly acclaimed album ‘FT’, which he described as ‘electronic, psychedelic soul’. The album boasts collaborations with an extraordinarily diverse range of artists including some of the most significant underground musical icons within music history.

‘FT’'s stellar collection of artists includes:- Yoko Ono, avant garde musician, conceptual art icon and one of the most controversial female artists of all time; Bootsy Collins widely regarded as one of the finest Funk/RnB bass players in the world; Dave Ball co-founder of ‘Soft Cell’, the UK’s notorious synth pioneers with the uniquely sleazy electric soul, Fred Schneider from the manic, bizarre and highly innovative US new-wave group ‘The B-52’s’ and Alan Vega, vocalist of the seminal proto-punk New York duo ‘Suicide’. ‘FT’ attracted significant critical praise and broke the top 20 album chart; singles released from the album also proved immensely popular. The animated video for his Yoko Ono Collaboration ‘In Love with Life’ received a share from YouTube themselves to their 66 million subscribers. It was also part of the ‘John Lennon Give Peace A Chance’ campaign for that year.

The single “Testify” feat. Crystal Water reached #2 in the Shazam chart, #3 in the iTunes Dance chart and spent 3 months in the top 30 singles; it was further hyped at the start of that year by The Blessed Madonna in her Radio 1 Essential Selection of acts to watch that year. “Testify” also hit the #1 top slot on the Billboard Dance Chart in USA .

In addition to writing and producing his own solo album, Sean has been passionately dedicated to his DJ sets (which include many self produced tracks and edits) holding down residencies and sets at XOYO , Ministry of Sound , Glitterbox , Metropolis and Defected own parties to name but a few within London where he is now based. He began playing house, disco and electro in the burgeoning and innovative club scene at The Glasgow Art School with his own respected club night , before relocating to London where he became a staple figure at some of the capital’s biggest underground house, disco and techno clubs, as well as a DJ on the scenes ‘after-hours’ parties.

2022 sees no stopping to his urge to be deeply and passionately involved in the music he lives for. What with current DJ sets for The Blessed Madonna’s BBC 6 Music show to his vinyl only remix of ‘Fire Island & Loleatta Holloways - Shout to the Top’ which went str8 in to #1 in the Juno chart and stayed there for over 4 weeks before selling out and dropping str8 back out.

This 12” now being a collectors item and passing for good money between vinyl collectors.

To Sean in his head this is always only the start and is every single time he makes a record or plays a DJ set.

He always sticks by this motto. “The next record I hear may be the best record I have ever heard.”
