About this Event
A concert to benefit mission to fulfill musical last wishes for individuals nearing the end of life.
Spring has arrived in the PNW, and Swan Songs Portland is celebrating with a concert featuring two of our city’s most stunning songwriters.
Join us Thursday, May 21st for the next evening in our Swan Songs @ The Artichoke benefit series, where we’ll showcase inimitable Portland indie folk stalwart Casey Neill and his long-time collaborator, masterful desperado Victor Krummenacher.
Swan Songs Portland would like to thank Housecall Providers for their sponsorship of our 2026 benefit concert series!
ABOUT CASEY:
“These are songs with stories well told.” - Steve Earle
Casey Neill is a songwriter from Portland, OR performing high energy indie folk infused with haunting melodies and weather beaten narratives. A prolific road warrior since the late 90s, Neill tours throughout the USA, Japan, and Europe, performing at venues such as NPR’s Mountain Stage, San Francisco’s Great American Music Hall, and the Newport Folk Festival. Casey is a 2025 inductee into the Oregon Music Hall of Fame.
“Be it through raucous rockers, fragile acoustic ballads, soulful touches of Irish folk, Neill’s narrative talent and concern for real people’s struggles stands out. The results are so evocative, you’ll be tempted to steep further in these memories, the better to share Neill’s particular blend of personal and historical experience.” - Marco Rivera, Splendid
ABOUT VICTOR:
“Victor Krummenacher writes stunning, dark, dusty desert music which is masterfully played. His sad, velvety voice brings an emotional punch to magnificent songs of quiet despair.” - Mojo Magazine
A veteran musician whose career spans over 40 years, Victor has released 11 solo albums and appearances on projects from Cracker, Charlie Parr, M. Ward, The Minus 5, The No Ones (featuring Scott McCaughey and REM’s Peter Buck), Mushroom, and McCabe & Mrs. Miller with Alison Faith Levy. He’s co-founder of Camper Van Beethoven and Monks of Doom (with David Immerglück of Counting Crows). Victor will be playing songs from across his career, including solo material, select CVB classics, and choice covers.
About:
Swan Songs creates a sense of connection for individuals near the end of life by gifting them private concerts, and supports live music in a community by compensating artists for the concerts. These intimate musical last wishes concerts are held in healthcare facilities or private homes, and are often attended by family, loved ones, and caregivers. Swan Songs maximizes the impact of the concerts by engaging musicians who match each recipient's favorite style of music, songs, or instruments. From opera to mariachi, bluegrass to the blues, each concert is unique and deeply meaningful for everyone present. Your generous donation helps us fulfill our mission of bringing private end-of-life concerts to the Portland metro community.
