About this Event

This session will introduce Museum Development South West’s (MDSW) new eLearning module the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Roadmap and how to make the most of this resource for themselves as individuals, their teams and their museum.


Who should attend?

This session is for staff and volunteers, including trustees of museum and heritage organisations in the south west who already understand:

  • The core concepts of equality, diversity, and inclusion
  • The Equality Act 2010
  • Protected characteristics and wider characteristics beyond this e.g. socio-economic status and are looking to take their next steps to welcome a wider range of people to their museum.


What will you learn?

As a result of attending this briefing session attendees will understand:

  • The different stages of the EDI Roadmap and the role of eachin your museum’s journey to become more inclusive.
  • How to use the EDI Roadmap either as a self-led learning tool or as a resource for group facilitation at your
  • Issues that group facilitators might encounter and how to overcome them.
  • How to access the EDI Roadmap eLearning


About the trainer

This session will be led by Eleanor Moore, Sustainable Volunteering Officer and Roz Bonnet, Programme and Projects Officer, Museum Development South West.

Eleanor Moore supports museums across the South West with volunteer involvement and Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. She delivers training sessions, operates a community of practice and since 2021 has managed MDSW’s delivery of two major NLHF-funded development programmes. Eleanor’s background is in social and community history curatorship with experience of collections, engagement and volunteering projects. Eleanor is an Associate Member of the Museums Association and holds an ILM Level 3 in volunteer management.

Roz Bonnet is a workforce development professional with Associateship of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. Her expertise is in learning and development and has worked in the cultural sector for over 15 years. Roz is passionate about supporting individuals and organisations to achieve and raise their ambitions.

How will this session be delivered and what equipment do I need?

This session will be delivered online using a cloud based video conferencing service. The service is free to use, all you need is either a laptop, tablet/ iPad or phone. Your device will need to be able to stream video and sound. If you are using a laptop you can simply connect via your web browser. If using a tablet/ iPad or phone you will need to download the app (free to download) to connect to the session.
