Each spring, frogs and salamanders awaken from their winter rest and some species begin an incredible journey. On the first warm, rainy night, these amphibians travel up to a half mile through the woods toward wetlands and pools to lay their eggs — sometimes crossing busy roads along the way. Volunteers across Maine gather on this “Big Night” to help these tiny creatures safely reach their destinations.
