Sustainability Screenings
This event marks the launch of Bournemouth University's new ‘Sustainability Screenings’ series. The format of this initiative involves a film screening that tackles a topic related to sustainability, an expert panel discussion with Q & A's from the audience, followed by an opportunity for networking and showcasing relevant work and research.
The overaching aim is to educate, inspire, and give tools to those who attend to take meaningful action for sustainability.
Six Inches of Soil
BU are proud to be screening the documentary film: Six Inches of Soil. This inspiring and timely film tells the story of three new British farmers standing up against the industrial food system and transforming the way they produce food. Regenerative farming practices promote healthier soils, provide healthier, affordable food, restore biodiversity and sequester carbon. We need to inspire farmers to adopt these practices, and encourage consumers, policymakers and food corporations to support them. Watch the trailer here!
The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with Q and A's from the audience, where we will be joined by Claire Mackenzie, the film Producer, George Holmes, Director of Arla, Clyde Jones, Soil Association advisor, Michael French from the Grounded Community project in Boscombe, and representations from Dorset Climate Action Network and Help and Kindness.
There will then be an opportunity for networking, and for BU academics and the local community to showcase current work and research that is actively contributing to a more sustainable, resilient food system.
