Join us for UM Sustainability Night 2025!

The University of Manitoba’s annual Sustainability Night will feature keynote speaker, Dr. Madeleine Orr, a world-leading sports ecologist highlighting her new book, Warming Up: How a Climate Change is Changing Sport.

Madeleine Orr is the Founder and Industry Lead at The Sport Ecology Group and an Assistant Professor of sport ecology at the University of Toronto. Her research focuses on the relationship between sport and the natural environment with special attention to climate change, risk, adaptation, sustainability, and just transitions to more inclusive and sustainable futures. Her book, “Warming Up: How Climate Change Is Changing Sport”, was longlisted for the William Hill Sports Book of the Year award and was named a Top 5 Sports Book of 2024 by The Guardian.

Get cozy for an evening with Dr. Orr, followed by a Q&A, networking session and light refreshments. UM sustainability groups and community organizations will feature their initiatives and climate change projects following the event.

This event is cohosted by the Office of Equity Transformation, Faculty of Kinesiology and Recreation Management, Clayton H. Riddell Faculty of Earth, Environment, and Resources, Office of Sustainability and the University of Manitoba Students' Union.
