About this Event

**Small Group Walk - Registration required, limit of 25 participants

Description: False Creek South is a livable inclusive community, based on mixed-income and a mix of tenures (co-ops, stratas, and non-profit rentals). In this walk we will stroll along the neighbourhood, along the seawall and within several enclaves, and learn about community activism around the neighbourhood’s resilience and sustainability.
Can this vibrant community survive in Vancouver of today? What changes are required to face climate change, the housing crisis, aging population, and lease insecurity?
We will meet community leaders who will speak to various projects such as herring nets, butterflyway gardens, public space activation, swap parties, marine conservation and more.

Walk Leader: Yael Stav is a False Creek South resident, and chair for the neighbourhood’s Sustainability and Resilience Committee. Yael has a PhD in sustainable design, and expertise in Green Building, Urban Agriculture, and Green Infrastructure. Contributing leaders who are contributing to the walk are Dolores Bzdel, Maureen Powers, Greg Sivucha and Zaida Schneider

How to recognize your walk leader(s): I will be wearing a green sweater

Travel Tips: Leg in boot square is 6 minutes walk from the olympic village skytrain station, and it's on the seawall.

We will end the walk around 20 minutes walk from the starting point.
