About this Event
It’s rare that a child of a famous writer is an equal as a writer. But such is the case with Susan Cheever, daughter of John Cheever, who is herself a noted and prolific novelist, historian, biographer, and memoirist. In Susan’s second, recently published memoir about her famous father, When All the Men Wore Hats, she offers more intimate insights into him by linking chapters of her childhood to relevant short stories of his. Her first book, Home Before Dark, was revelatory, moving, and poetic, and it virtually redefined the genre of a child writing about a parent. Here she is especially candid in disclosing facts about his life and the kind of father he was to her. Susan talks about the making of this memoir and the stories she chose to feature that reflect her father’s life, her girlhood, and her family's. A book signing will follow her presentation.
