As a yoga teacher, it can feel daunting to support students who arrive in your class with an injury. From navigating unfamiliar medical terminology to knowing which questions to ask and how to offer variations of common asanas, the process can be overwhelming.
This weekend training will equip you with practical tools to confidently communicate with, support, and empower every student—ensuring that your classes remain safe, inclusive, and truly accessible.
Over the course of two days, we will:
1. Examine the latest research on yoga-related injuries to understand risks and realities.
2. Learn clear communication strategies for working with students who have injuries.
3. Explore the most common injuries seen in yoga classes and their implications for teaching.
4. Review the anatomy of frequently affected areas to deepen your understanding of how injuries occur.
5. Practice modifying and adapting asanas with props and variations to make your classes accessible to all.
6. Discover ways to support the long-term health and resilience of key areas of the body.
This workshop counts towards CPD requirements for Yoga Alliance US and Yoga Alliance Professionals (10 hours).
There will be a mixture of discussion, lecture, group work and practical demonstration.
There will be a detailed handout provided including images of asana variations.
Each day will run from 10.30am - 1.00pm and 2.00pm – 4.30pm.
You’ll have the opportunity to purchase a signed copy of my book, Supporting Yoga Students with Common Injuries and Conditions, at the end of the workshop. Email me to preorder your copy.
