About this Event
This training is being sponsored by Lincoln. Working with system-involved youth can be challenging given the generational patterns of trauma, poverty, incarceration, etc. So, itβs essential for providers to understand generational trauma and how to work with system-involved youth from a generational perspective. Without this perspective, we can have unrealistic expectations for youth and their families and encounter barriers to engagement. Providers will learn strategies to support youth with generational patterns of trauma within their families.
Please note that in order to register for these FREE trainings your organization must directly work with foster, adoptive or probation involved children, youth and their families in Alameda, Solano, Mendocino, Lake, Contra Costa, Humboldt, Tuolumne and Calaveras only. Caregivers, including resource families, who serve youth in the above-mentioned counties are also eligible. Participants outside of these areas aren't eligible and will not receive the zoom link.
Learning objectives are:
- Participants will be able to define generational trauma
- Participants will be able to conceptualize foster youth on their caseload through a generational trauma lens
- Participants will be able to identify at least one way generational trauma is related to health disparities amongst groups of people
The training will be facilitated by Dr. Nicole Klasey of Klasey Consulting LLC. You can learn more about Klasey Consulting at www.klaseyconsulting.com
