Justin Markussen-Brown will discuss:
- The two main types of bilingual development
- How long it takes for a child to develop skills in two languages
- The benefits of developing strong language skills in multiple languages during childhood
- Techniques and strategies that parents can use to support their child’s development in their own language, as well as what they can do to support their child’s Danish
- The obligatory Danish screenings that all bilingual children must undergo when they are 3 years old
ABOUT JUSTIN MARKUSSEN-BROWN
Justin Markussen-Brown is a Danish-Canadian linguist who has researched the language teaching practices of Danish educators and the effects of continuing education in language teaching practices. Justin is known for his easy-to-understand and accessible presentation of the complexity of language acquisition. He is also the father of multilingual children himself.
PRACTICAL INFORMATION
- The event is aimed at parents of children age 0-6, but everyone who is interested is welcome to participate
- The content is a talk and for grownups. If you bring smaller kids/babies, please show consideration
- The event will be held in English, questions can be asked in Danish and English
