Parasol Patrol is a nonprofit dedicated to shielding children and young people from hostile protesters at 2SLGBTQIA+ and BIPOC events. Using umbrellas to create a visual barrier, we guide families past harmful messages from groups like Proud Boys, Patriot Front, Blood Tribe, GAG and Westboro Baptist Church. For the youngest, we provide noise-canceling ear protection to block the hateful slurs often yelled through bullhorns. Our mission is to ensure that children can walk through their communities with dignity, protected from the hate that seeks to harm them.This isn't your usual Parasol Patrol volunteering opportunity. There are many different ways to support the Parasol Patrol and here is another way. We have been given the opportunity to be the beneficiary of the Pride Sunday Beer Bust at Trade. We are you calling for 40 Patrollers to help pour beer during the Beer Bust from 3:30-8:00pm.
On Sunday 05/29/2025, from 3:30-8:00pm We will be spreading the word about what The Parasol Patrol does as we keep customers drinks fill and have a great time ourselves. If you don't usually go to Pride and/or would like to check out the Legendary Trade Pride Beer Bust this is the volunteer event for you. Trade is a safe environment for all in our community.
It's crucial for Parasol Patrol volunteers to remember that we are not a counter-protest group. We don’t engage with Westboro and we always maintain at least 10 ft distance from them, as they are extremely litigious.

Our mission isn’t about influencing identities—it’s about ensuring that all children, especially BIPOC and Queer youth, know they are loved and supported by their entire community, not *in spite* of who they are, but *because* of who they are."
