First time hosting a CFA event and I am super stoked! Most mountain sports have downhill events. Time for trail running to follow suit! 📍 When: Sunday May 17, 10:30am start
📍 Where: Grouse
📍 Start: Top of Dam Mountain, 10:30am
📍 Finish: most western point of the Powerline Trail, near the east end of the Grouse parking lot. Parking lot gathering with sweet treats and cold bevvies!
Allow 2-ish hours to hike up from the base of Grouse (about 5km and 1000m of elevation gain when using the BCMC). You don't have to come up at the same time, as long as you're on Dam at 10:30am. So if you know it might take you longer, leave early. Or if you take the gondola, you can sleep in!
🏔️ Course: approximately 8.5km, 1050m descending, 100m climbing.

Course description: Dam Mountain > Thunderbird Ridge > Erik the Red trail > Pipeline Pass > Mountain Highway > Mosquito Creek Waterfall > Access Road (West) > LGMH trail > Powerline trail
⚠️ IMPORTANT: Route will have some snow at higher elevation. Bring microspikes if you want. Course can be re-routed based on conditions (will be announced). Part of the course is pretty remote (Erik the Red trail), make sure you carry your 10 essentials. Highly recommended to have a phone/watch with the course pre-loaded.
⚠️ This is not a downhill course on well groomed trails. There are a lot of very technical sections, some very steep sections, a big creek crossing, blowdown and other obstacles on the trails. Wild and adventurous. Some trails are marked well, others pretty poorly. It is very likely you will at least a few times have trouble to see where the trail continues.
