About this Event
Sunstroke Press is hosting a literary reading and fundraiser to help produce our second title, Word Art: an experimental literary art journal made up of text-centric pieces from writers, visual artists and the internet. Proceeds support production, printing, and promotion.
Join us for an evening of readings, a literary open mic, a raffle and support for independent publishing. Open mic sign ups begin at 7:00 PM, and are first come first served. Open mic readers get 3-4 minutes to read.

A celebration of text, visuals, and how they come together to create something unique, Word Art was born from a writing critique group whose members also happen to be visual artists. Curated from a 2024 submission call, these works are the product of a widespread exploration that plays with the bounds of word and art. Equal parts experimental and rooted in the tradition of literary magazines, Word Art exists at the intersection of art, technology, words and paper.
