Eddy Balzola and his band ORIENTE! present an exciting mix of Afro-Latin Jazz, Blues, and Rhythm-n-Soul. Born in Guanabacoa, Cuba, a town known for its Afro-Cuban folklore and culture, Balzola is a guitarist, composer, arranger, bandleader and artist. He began his first tour with ORIENTE! in the mid-90’s, debuting at the famous New Orleans Jazz club “Snug Harbor”. Their sizzling World Music, with rhythmic yet melodic Afro-Cuban sounds, created a great buzz! 30 years and countless concerts and tours later, ORIENTE! continues to record and perform creative, original music with fresh arrangements and exciting stage presence, ever evolving and creative with instrumentation, space and sound.
Balzola's lineup for Sept 6th will feature long-time band members: multi-percussionist Yoel Del Sol (Cuba), trumpeter Stuart King (Memphis), upright/electric bassist Rusty Hari Heck (Chicago/P.R.), plus featuring special guests, drummer John Yarling (Detroit) and Melton Mustafa on Sax.
*Among Oriente’s exceptional band mates and educators, they have collaborated with legends including – Pharoah Sanders, Paquito D’Rivera, The Isley Bros., Federico Britos, Neville Bros., Celia Cruz, Mongo Santamaria, The Chi-Lites, Ray Barretto, Big Chief Monk Boudreaux, Yanni, Debbie Spring, Patrice Fisher, Jesse Jones, Jr., Melton Mustafa Jr...many more.

The Sunshine Jazz Organization celebrates 38 Seasons soon! SJO's monthly concert series "1st Fridays Live at The Lyric", is presented at the Historic Lyric Theater and Black Archives in Overtown Miami. The Lyric is a beautiful, renovated 112 year old Theater, among the oldest in the USA. Sunshine Jazz will present "ORIENTE! Latin Soul Jazz", from 8pm-10pm.
Tickets are available on the website www.sunshinejazz.org, or at the Theater Door. General Admission $30 / VIP $40 (incl wine reception 7pm-8pm) Street parking and a paid parking lot is across the street by The Red Rooster, celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson's popular restaurant.
