SECRET BEACH & CRATERADVENTURE HIKE

Your inner adventurer is calling!
Join us for this week's version of our Big Hike Sunday series with a little extra spice as we hike, scramble, and crawl our way to this unique secret beach amphitheater! This secret crater is only accessible at very low tides, and luckily for you we've done all of the logistical planning to make it happen! We'll hike along the stunning coastline and beaches for about 2 miles before things start to get interesting... this is where we may have to do a little bit of rock scrambling to get past a beach that's underwater most of the time.
After hiking a little more, we'll crawl our way through the unassuming cave entrance and into this massive secret amphitheater! (We may be able to walk in... just depends on how high the sand is at the time.)
Snap some photos, sing your best song into the echo-y crater, and then hike back along secluded beaches as the sun sets behind the Pacific and the moon rises in the east. Join us for an early dinner at a local spot in Point Reyes Station afterwards!
The Hike:
-6-ish miles on mostly flat ground
-108 ft elevation gain
-Difficulty: Moderate
-Easy most of the way (hiking on the beach)
-Moderate/Difficult for short rock scramble/climbing sections
Includes:
-A gorgeous hike to a secret beach and beach crater - timed perfectly with low tide so we can actually get inside!

-An awesome group of UD members to hike with
-Trail Snacks
-Group dinner plans in Pt Reyes afterwards
-All group / trail logistics handled for you
What to bring:
-Bring your own water - MINIMUM 2L
-Towel or change of clothes just in case you have to get a little wet from crawling into the secret crater
-Headlamp or flashlight - we should be back before dark, but it's always better to be safe than sorry
-Gloves for the rock scrambling/climbing (optional)
-$$ for dinner afterwards
Attire:
-Warm layers and long pants as it will likely be chilly
-Hiking shoes or anything with really good traction (we will be scrambling over wet rocks)
