When was the last time you were at the Badlands? My XO Adventures in co-operation with the Badlands Observatory offers an exciting combination of natural wonder and science for Rapid City Locals!Your experience starts with transportation from downtown Rapid City Convention Center at 505 North Street. From here we'll head out to Badlands National Park. At our favorite sunset location, we'll set up for the best views in Southwest South Dakota.
We'll arrive early to see wildlife during the Golden Hour. Bison, Pronghorn, Bighorn Sheep, Prairie Dogs, Porcupines, Badgers, Coyotes and more.
Once the sun sets, we make our way through the Badlands Loop Road during the blue hour, when the wild formations turn black against the vibrant blue sky.
After departing the park, we take a short drive to the Badlands Observatory, a somewhat hidden gem in the Badlands. The Observatory will be set up exclusively for our group. Telescopes of all sizes are available to view celestial objects.
The Observatory was built by by Deadwood local Ron Dyvig and has worldwide recognition. Ron even discovered an Asteroid named 26715 South Dakota!
Light refreshments will be made available and included in the tour's price. Inside, the observatory houses a giant telescope, a museum of communication, and observation equipment.
Teresa Hofer works alongside Ron and is a professional photographer. Not only has she captured mind-blowing celestial objects, but her photos of the Badlands and its wildlife are outstanding.
