Join us on Friday, April 19 for a Sunrise Side Gardens Clean-Up & Planting Party, hosted in partnership with the Sunrise Side Garden Team and MSU Extension. This is a community-wide invitation to help clean up, prepare, and plant our shared garden spaces for the growing season ahead.What We’ll Be Doing:
Spring clean-up of the Sunrise Side Gardens
Planting a variety of fruits, vegetables, herbs, and flowers
Launching one of our most fun projects yet... A Pizza Garden!!
About the Pizza Garden-
One of the gardens planted this day will be a Pizza Garden, featuring ingredients you’d find on a classic pizza, including:
Tomatoes
Basil
Oregano
Peppers & hot peppers
Onions
Garlic
and anything else that we would go on a pizza.
This garden will tie into a later-season community event with Detroit Frankie, who will be joining us in August (date to be announced) to lead a how-to class on cooking pizza in a pizza oven. Community members with portable pizza ovens are encouraged to attend. (details coming soon)
This event is open to gardeners of all experience levels, families, volunteers, and anyone who loves local food, hands-on projects, and coming together to support our community.
Please bring work gloves, any garden tools you’d like to use, a water bottle, and clothes you don’t mind getting a little dirty.
This Earth Day event is all about community pride, learning together, and growing something special right here in Rogers City.
