Event location is the Museum & Library’s shared Auditorium at 230 Grace Street.Join Cape Fear Museum and presenter Tim Pinnick for a Sunday Talk exploring the lives of WWII Navy Veterans from Williston Industrial High School. In October of 1943, Williston celebrated Navy Day with a program to honor former students that had left town to serve on land and sea. Tim Pinnick and UNCW Professor Nathan Ragain discovered the list of individuals recognized in the ceremony and have been researching their lives and uncovering their stories.
About Our Presenter:
Tim Pinnick is a local historian and has been an active participant in the world of genealogy for over 30 years. He is the Lead Researcher, and former Co-Chair, for the New Hanover County Community Remembrance Project (NHCCRP), formed in 2019 for the purpose of conducting a Soil Collection Ceremony under the auspices of the Equal Justice Initiative (EJI), headquartered in Montgomery, Alabama. His efforts now center on developing a network of individuals, groups, and organizations working to gather, share, and preserve the history and stories of the Wilmington, North Carolina, African American community.
