Sunday Synergy @ Unity of Roanoke Valley!A Different Web Experience: Dreamcatchers
However dream catchers are believed to work, their underlying meaning and symbolism remain the same. They serve a protective purpose. Those who believe in dream catchers say that they act as a filter for dreams. They send good dreams to the sleeper and the bad dreams away. Native American dream catchers from the Ojibwe tribe were traditionally used as talismans. Their purpose was to protect sleepers, especially children, from bad dreams, nightmares and evil spirits. Native Americans believed that at night the air was filled with dreams, both good and bad. They are not to be bought, but made by someone to be given for protection. Culturally, it represents the interconnectedness of all living things.
About Donna Haley
Donna began her service to Virginia Cooperative Extension in 1996 as a Master Gardener. In 2012, she took on the title of Master Naturalist as well. She often completes her service hours volunteering for the speakers bureau or coordinating outreach and education for these groups.
Donna, as an ethno-botanist, taught horticulture at Virginia Western Community College at Greenfield.
