About this Event
Chef Khardi Dalton is a Birmingham, Alabama–born chef whose passion for cooking began at home alongside the women figures in his life. From helping in the kitchen to spending countless hours watching Food Network together, food has always been a central part of Khardi’s life.
After high school, Khardi briefly attended the University of Alabama, but quickly realized they were searching for purpose rather than a degree. Taking time away from college and returning home reignited their love for food—this time with a deeper curiosity. With the internet opening the door to global cuisines and new techniques, Khardi began chasing bold, unfamiliar flavors, cooking for friends and family and constantly pushing beyond what they grew up eating.
Khardi’s professional journey started early at Urban Cookhouse, where they worked throughout high school and early adulthood, building a strong foundation in consistency, teamwork, and Southern-inspired cooking. Over the past two years, they have expanded their craft downtown, first at Automatic Seafood & Oysters, and now currently at Helen. These experiences have shaped Khardi’s approach to food—rooted in Southern tradition but driven by exploration, technique, and respect for ingredients.
Now 24, Chef Khardi Dalton continues to grow, learn, and cook with intention, seeing food not just as a career, but as a lifelong calling they wouldn’t trade for anything with the goal to open his own restaurant in the city he’s from.
