Congressional Cemetery is a National Historic Landmark and active burial ground. Over 67,000 people are interred at Congressional Cemetery, ranging from 1807 all the way until the present day. Their stories are American history in microcosm, all in 35 acres of the nation’s capital. Come and experience their extraordinary lives in a one of kind portal into the past. One of our trained docents who will share the stories of interred residents while walking the scenic cemetery grounds.
Please wear comfortable and weather appropriate clothing and shoes, as the tours often stray from the main paths. Tours meet rain or shine. The Cemetery is open to dogs on Sundays. Please be aware of that off-leash dogs will be on the grounds at the time of the tour.
Reservations are required with a $5 donation.
Meet your docent at the front gate of the cemetery located at the corner of E St. and Potomac Ave.
