Join us at the Lynn Valley Legion for a powerful afternoon with Russ Robertson, President of the Squamish Legion and a Canadian Armed Forces veteran.Robertson first enlisted with the Canadian Armed Forces in 1990, serving with the Royal Canadian Dragoons. His service included domestic deployments during the 1997 Winnipeg floods and the 1998 ice storms in Ontario and Quebec, as well as international deployments to Bosnia in 1994 and 1996, where during his second tour he was held hostage for several days by Serbian forces as part of a larger geopolitical standoff. In 2000, Robertson became an Intelligence Operator, and in 2004 he deployed to Afghanistan under the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force. He retired from military service in 2019 with more than 29 years of service.
Russ will share a raw, unfiltered, and informative talk about his experiences, offering an honest look at life behind the uniform and the realities of military service. This is a rare and meaningful opportunity to hear firsthand from someone who has lived through international conflict, domestic crisis response, and extraordinary circumstances requiring resilience and resolve.
