🗓️ Sundays Nov 9, 16, 23, 20 @ 5:30PM📍 Birmingham Festival Theatre - 5 Points South
Sunday Service is a weekly gathering of comedy, catharsis, and community.
Join comedians Matt Davis and Christopher Davis and guests as we cast out the week’s bad news through political satire, true stories, and local voices.
Laugh, testify, and meet neighbors who don’t suck.
ℹ️ About The Event
Step into the tent, friend—Sunday Service is in session.
Each week, comedian Matt Davis leads a revival of reason and ridicule: sharp political comedy, real community voices, and guest speakers working to make change. We cleanse ourselves in the light of the absurd, mock devils public and private, and remind one another that laughter is still a civic duty.
Between the hahas, local organizers and activists take the pulpit to share new ideas, initiatives, and calls to action; audience members are invited to testify, share absurd headlines that deserve a comedy exorcism, or simply bear witness.
It’s church for people who don’t go to church—a space to connect, unwind, and leave re-charged to do some good or at least feel a bit better before heading into another week.
A weekly gathering of comedians, community voices, and recovering believers in democracy. Bring your doubts, your headlines, and your sense of humor.
Stay for fellowship after the hour; the collection plate is metaphorical, but the community is real.

ℹ️ About Matt Davis
‘Matt Davis is an intellectually-driven stand up comedy king.’ **** Fringe Review (Perth, Australia, 2020)
‘Matt is a pro. …perfect timing… has the comic vision of a Zen Buddhist’ **** Gonzo Magazine (Edinburgh, Scotland, 2024)
‘A great comedian! Smart writer, always funny’ - Dave Attell
Matt Davis is an award-winning comedian with a long C.V. of global comedy and arts festivals spanning 25+ years of touring across 70+ countries, including Just For Laughs in Montreal, Sketch Fest in San Francisco, UICF in Utrecht, Netherlands, the Bengaluru Comedy Festival in India, Sydney Comedy Fringe in Australia, HICF in Hong Kong, and many, many more. In 2015 his World in Jest project helped to connect disparate emerging comedy scenes, including many where he was the first foreign artist to perform with local scenes (Mongolia, Macedonia, Pakistan, and Bosnia-Herzegovina to name a few). This work led to his previous hour, BadFamiliar, and an on-going effort of the same name that hopes to help connect artists interested in crushing the notion that “familiar equals good” within their own work.
Matt’s early years of touring, mid-late 90s to 2015, were primarily in North America. During this time he was racking up 40 weeks a year on the road; toured as opening act for household names; was featured on Netflix in its early days; released 5 albums he does not care for now; and was regularly spun on Sirius / XM Radio. In early 2025, Matt founded Laughing Impact Project, the civic-facing arts initiative producing this event (see above).
