A short course in painting fundamentals, to increase your confidence, skills and enjoyment with painting. Complete over 6 weeks. This painting course is designed for anyone who wants to develop their skills in painting. It could be that you haven't been creative for a while but want to get back into exercising your artistic skills again. This course is also helpful for intermediate artists that have been painting for a while but feel they need some additional tuition to help them progress.
During this 6-week course you will learn the creative process, and come away with your own artwork that expresses your individual interests. For the first 3 weeks Ruth will guide you through painting techniques from observation, to abstract painting and mark-making. You will then focus on your own mini project for the next 3 weeks, creating your own artwork in a specialist area with support and guidance from a professional artust.
Over 6 weeks, Ruth will take you through the following topics that will result in a small portfolio of artwork and an increased confidence and joy in painting:
Observation skills - paint a still life floral boutique with inks
Abstract painting - Learn how to abstract an image and create abstract art
Mark making - use unconvential tools to make marks, texture and express yourself
Start your own project - take your favourite technique and learn how to develop an idea using a sketchbook. This includes finding inspiration, from the world around you, other artists and your imagination.
Develop your idea - develop your initial idea into a series of exploratory artworks
Final piece - begin on a final artwork that expresses your individual creative interests
Ruth is an experienced workshop host and artist who creates colourful and uplifting botanical art. Join her to learn key painting techniques, and come away with your own small collection of beautiful and authentic paintings.
