Join us Sunday, August 11th at 6:30pm for our weekly Sunday Live Music Series, this week featuring Rene Schlegel of Shoeless Soul!Sometime in the summer of 2010 Rene started frequenting the open mic @ the Dunedin Brewery armed with guitar and a pocketful of tunes. Not before too long he met Sladjan Vidic and the chemistry between the two was undeniable, and the project that is shoeless soul was born.After Justin Pearl Morakis' departure, Sladjan took over on bass, Dave Gerulat was added on drums. Dave's skillfull rhytmic drumming style and on point backing vocals along with the soulful jazzy sylings of Mike Ratza on Saxophone, and impeccable Backing vocals have created a unique style that is shoeless soul.
Their sound has been described as feel-good pop-fusion, jazzy-reggae jam or more recently “Prozac-Pop”. The bending of genres infused with tasteful jams and catchy chorus lines gives shoeless soul a tone that has yet to be replicated.
The camaraderie is undeniable and evident in the playful musical banter and infectious smiles they display on stage.
