Shannon's SHARE Foundation
Co-founded by Howard Alums, Odiney Brown & Nahdi Mukomana Brown; after Odiney's 11 year old daughter Shannon passed away due to complications related to Leukemia. Shannon passed away when she couldn't find a matching bone marrow donor because of the lack of representation of people of color on the national marrow registry. Shannon's SHARE educates and recruits potential stem cell donors of color and financially assists patients.
The HBCU Scholarship Ride
Founded by Howard Alum, Hassan Abdus-Sabur in 2019, the organization hosts an annual bike ride from Newark, NJ to Howard University in Washington D.C. in efforts of raising money for scholarships to be awarded to graduating high school students in Newark, NJ attending HBCUs. The HBCU Scholarship Ride raises over 100K annually and gifts multiple HBCU students every year!
