Sunday Dance Snack: Connecting Isolations for Douceur!

Looking for a little bit of dance learning and practice to start off your week? Each Sunday Dance Snack will include one hour of learning on special topics (this month we'll continue training our close embrace dancing 🫂) followed by an hour of practice.
Who: You, silly! This class is open level, although it is recommended that you have taken at least a drop-in Kizomba or Urban Kiz class to best access the content of this month's class. We will be capping the class size this month to 12 students (6 leads, 6 follows), so make sure to register early to ensure you get a spot!
What: Hour-long, stand-alone dance classes on special topics (this month, focusing on smoothly connecting isolations from different parts of the body in your close-embrace dancing and douceur). Classes are $20 per class, with registration required by noon on Saturday, March 28th for the March 29th class. Venmo @Laine-Anderson-2 to sign up and please specify whether you're taking the class as a lead or follow. We need at least eight people registered in order to proceed with the class.
Where: Lowdown Ballroom (Capitol Hill)
When: 11:00AM-1:00PM on Sunday, March 29th (note the earlier start time this month!)
Refund/cancellation note: If you pre-register for class but then have to cancel, 24-hour notification is needed in order to be able to receive a refund.
About the instructors:
Laine (she/her) has been dancing kizomba for let's just say a long time, and urban kiz for about seven years. She believes that the most beautiful dances feel gentle, accepting, and musical.
Rob (they/them) is a Kizomba dancer and educator with a special interest in Tarraxo and Douceur. They have the most fun being musical and connected and small 👼🏻
This week’s lesson will focus on creating smooooooth transitions between upper, middle, and lower body isolations while in close embrace. As some might already know, these kind of transitions can lead to confusion and disconnection between dancers in close embrace. Together, we will explore how leads and follows can collaborate to maintain a rolling point of connection that will lead to smoother transitions and deeper, more durable douceur connections.
