About this Event
🍀☀️So, what’s this retreat all about?
Join me for a nurturing, back-to-nature yoga retreat at the threshold of summer.
We humans have spent thousands of years trying to control the effects of nature on our lives, the seasons continue to shape us more deeply than we often realise. In winter, as nature turns inward, we too feel the urge to slow down and retreat. In contrast, summer’s brightness brings energy, vitality, and a desire to be more active for longer. Becoming aware of this natural rhythm — and how closely we are aligned with it — is essential to our wellbeing and self-understanding.
As the sun’s influence strengthens, light, warmth, and outward energy naturally increase. We often feel this shift internally too — through greater activity, heightened intensity, and increased stimulation.
At this time of year, rajasic energy rises. In Ayurveda, this aligns with an increase in pitta dosha, associated with heat, focus, drive, and transformation. When this inner fire becomes excessive, it can manifest as restlessness, irritability, frustration (and even anger), emotional reactivity, overexertion, or eventual burnout. So what do we do?
As Jon Kabat-Zinn beautifully reminds us: “You cannot stop the waves, but you can learn to surf.”
While we cannot change the energy of the season, we can learn to work with it skilfully. Sun-Blessed Sattva offers a supportive space to pause, recalibrate, and cultivate more conscious ways of meeting summer’s energy with steadiness and ease.
Drawing from yogic philosophy, we explore how our inner state is shaped by the three gunas:
