There's a quiet magic in watching an image appear from nothing. June is the month of long light and bright afternoons, so we're spending it making prints with the help of the sun and a few leaves.Cyanotypes are one of the oldest forms of photography, and they're as close to alchemy as crafting gets. You arrange leaves, ferns, lace and offcuts onto pre-treated fabric or paper, leave it in the sun for a few minutes, and watch deep blue prints emerge where the light hits. Rinse it, hang it to dry and you've got something gorgeous.
Geli printing is louder and more painterly. You roll ink onto a soft jelly-like plate, press your textures and stencils into it, then pull a print onto paper. The results are unpredictable in the best way -wonky, layered, full of character!
We'll have both running side by side, so you can move between them. Use the results to make wrapping paper, cards, the start of a zine, a piece for your wall or just a stack of beautiful paper to use however you like.
If you want to, you can bring leaves, feathers, lace, doilies, dried flowers, anything flat-ish with an interesting texture. We'll have plenty too, but the rummage beforehad is half the fun.
This is an afternoon of slow and friendly crafting fun: 2pm - 4pm at the Brickies in Hightown.
Please RSVP on here so we have an idea of numbers for supplies. It is all free and everything provided -if you can, please buy a drink at the bar to support our brilliant hosts!
