Join us for a full-day birdwatching adventure as we explore some of Somersets most iconic wetland habitats, all in the comfort of our own WNFGT vehicle. Departing from key towns in the New Forest, we’ll head west for a varied and rewarding day of wildlife watching. The full itinerary will be fixed nearer the time based on the latest bird news but we can expect to visit the excellent reserves at Ham Wall, Steart Marshes, Westhay and Greylake before finishing the day at Avalon Marshes watching the famous Starling murmuration as they gather to roost.
These sites are rich in wildlife, offering a fantastic chance to see a mix of wetland species including Common Crane, Bittern, Great White and Cattle Egret, Glossy Ibis and other reedbed specialists such as Marsh harrier and Bearded Tit.
We’ll take our time at each location, offering opportunities for bird identification, photography, and relaxed exploration. A simple, rustic picnic lunch will be provided, and there will be opportunities for hot drinks and toilet stops during the day.
