The Midland Chamber Orchestra is a non-profit, amateur chamber orchestra, based in Birmingham. They regularly perform in concerts throughout the year, their repertoire mainly consisting of classical music, and occasionally featuring some pieces from other eras such as the Baroque and Romantic.
Founded in 2018, their members include teachers, students, young professionals and recent conservatoire alumni. The orchestra's main focus is on quality of music, rehearsing and working hard to produce high-standard, enjoyable performances. MCO supports emerging young artists from Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, providing a platform for solo performance with orchestra. They have also featured alongside other notable music groups in Birmingham, such as the Vivat Choir when they performed Vivaldi's Gloria in 2019, and Hallfield School at MCO's 5th Anniversary Concert in 2023. MCO are one of the very few Birmingham amateur orchestras which performed online during lockdown 2020.
