About this Event
At Moonlighter FabLab’s Summer S.T.E.A.M. Maker Camp, children don’t just learn about technology—they become makers. Our program is intentionally structured around a different theme each week, giving campers the opportunity to build new technical skills and immediately apply them to exciting, real-world design challenges. Through hands-on projects using real tools and materials—cutting, building, assembling, prototyping, and experimenting—students strengthen fine and gross motor skills while exploring engineering, art, and innovation. Children will grow more confident and capable as problem-solvers, collaborators, and creators. Guided by experienced educators in a safe, supportive environment, campers learn how ideas turn into tangible creations—and how they can use technology and creativity together to shape the world around them.

Schedule:
July 6 - 10, 2026
Little Architects:
Stadium Engineers: Designing the Future of Arena Architecture
Step into the world of sports architecture as you design your own dream stadium! Campers will learn how engineers and designers bring arenas to life—from structure and sound to light and crowd flow. Using 3D modeling and laser cutting, you’ll build your own mini stadium complete with team logos and LED lights. Get ready to cheer for your creation at the big Friday showcase!
July 13-17, 2026
Art Meets Science:
Body in Motion: The Science Behind Sports
Campers become junior sports scientists exploring how the body moves, adapts, and heals. Through anatomy, engineering, and technology, they’ll learn how doctors, therapists, and engineers work together to keep athletes strong. From building working joints to designing open-source medical tools, students use creativity and digital fabrication to bring their ideas to life.
July 20-24, 2026
Gizmos and Gadgets:
Robo-Athletes: Building the Future of Sports
This week, campers transform into robotic engineers and inventors as they explore how technology is reshaping sports. From self-moving machines to intelligent training bots, campers will design, build, and code their own Robo-Athletes! They’ll learn the foundations of robotics, experiment with sensors and coding logic, and use digital fabrication tools like 3D printing and laser cutting to create custom attachments and structures for their robots.
The week ends with the ultimate Robo-Games — a friendly competition where each camper’s robot competes in creative, sport-inspired challenges.
July 27-31,2026
Movie Makers
Storytellers in Action!
They’ll combine art, science, and technology to tell stories about motion, invention, and innovation. Through the lens of filmmaking, students will document their experiments, robotics challenges, and designs from previous weeks — exploring how to use video, sound, and design to communicate ideas.
Campers will storyboard, film, and edit short Active Science Documentaries that celebrate the creativity, teamwork, and technology of The Science of Play!
Aug 3- 7, 2026
Game Makers:
Invent a New Game
Get ready to create the next big sport! In this final week, campers will use imagination, teamwork, and STEAM skills to dream up brand-new games that combine creativity, movement, and design. From inventing equipment to crafting team identities, students will become game designers, engineers, and athletes—all in one. Using Tinkercad, laser cutting, and 3D printing, they’ll prototype their own custom sports gear and test their ideas in real-time. The week culminates in The Maker Games, where everyone gets to play and celebrate their unique creations that everyone gets to play!
