Woo hoo there’s no denying the summer is here now as we welcome in June - the month of the summer solstice and the strawberry moon. This is the season to celebrate being alive as the flowers bloom and all of nature is awake and vibrant. A traditional time to marry as this time was associated with love, the planet Venus and the goddess Aphrodite, with many flowers and fruits abundant at this time being pink or red in colour such as roses, raspberries, strawberries and many wildflowers.
This time of love is a traditional time for weddings and the origin of the word honeymoon relates to the mead which was made from fermented honey traditionally given at weddings to the bride and groom as an aphrodisiac.
Although June sees the beginning of warmth and sunnier days we also get the longest day of the year (this year it falls on Thursday 20th June) after which we start the descent into the dark cycle of the year as nature reminds us that nothing lasts forever so this is the time to enjoy and embrace summer and all of the joy it offers as much as we can.
There’s one space left if you’d like to celebrate the solstice on 22nd June - the day of the Strawberry full moon - combining two yoga practices with sound healing, movement medicine, journalling, sharing circle, guided meditations and cacao as you honour your light and the light of others at our sister circle ceremony for the summer solstice.
