Celebrate the Summer Solstice at Centrala!

Get ready for a fantastic celebration of Slavic and Eastern European culture at our Summer Solstice event, filled with music, dance, and traditional rituals. This family-friendly event welcomes all ages, but adults will need to help children with crafts like making flower crowns and corals for girls, and flower boats for boys.
The Summer Solstice, known as "Kupala Night" in Ukraine, "Noc Kupały" in Poland, "Ivan Kupala" in Russia, and "Sânziene" in Romania, marks the longest day of the year. Deeply rooted in Central and Eastern European traditions, this festival celebrates the power of the sun, fertility, and nature's abundance. The summer solstice holds great significance in Slavic culture, representing the peak of the sun’s power and the balance between light and darkness. This event explores the cultural and spiritual importance of the summer solstice, shedding light on the rituals and celebrations that honour this vital moment in the yearly cycle.
How We Celebrate:
Traditional Music and Dance: Enjoy lively performances and join in traditional dances that have been passed down through generations.
Crafts for Children: Kids can get creative by making flower crowns, corals, and flower boats. These crafts symbolise nature and beauty, celebrating the vibrant spirit of the solstice.
Storytelling: Children will have the chance to listen to enchanting stories from Eastern European countries, teaching them about positive thinking, self-care, and the importance of community.
Slavic Yoga: Relax and rejuvenate with yoga sessions for both adults and kids, embracing the harmonious connection between mind and body.
Face Painting: Delight in the artistry of face painting, adding a touch of whimsy to our festive celebration. (End of the celebration)
Why We Celebrate:
The roots of this beautiful event lie in ancient Slavic and Eastern European traditions, where the Summer Solstice was celebrated with bonfires, rituals, and festivities to honour the sun and ensure prosperity for the coming months. It's a time of joy, unity, and admiration for the natural world.
Join us at Centrala for an unforgettable day of cultural immersion, laughter, and community spirit.
