Join Sheffield Philharmonic Orchestra for a relaxed afternoon of live classical music as they close their 80th concert season, showcasing some of the orchestra’s own talented soloists.Following the success of last year’s event, this informal summer concert returns with a c. 1 hour programme designed to be enjoyed by everyone. The earlier start time makes it especially ideal for anyone looking to enjoy some beautiful music without a late evening.
The programme will features a vibrant mix of classical repertoire, including Louise Farrenc’s Overture No. 2 and Mendelssohn's Overture in C for Winds. We’re also delighted to spotlight members of the orchestra as soloists, including:
- Mozart Sinfonia Concertante for Four Winds feat. Becky Baines, Kate Leadley, Nicola Elam & Frank Edenborough
- Saint-Saëns Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso feat. Maria Nikolaeva (violin)
- Guilmant Morceau Symphonique feat. Sophie Anderson (trombone)
- Chopin Piano Concerto No. 2 in F minor (first movement) feat. soloist Andrew Lin
