Last year's catastrophic summer of 2024-25 saw our beaches covered in rotting, diseased salmon fat, unknown quantities of antibiotics dumped in our waterways, and a complete lack of preparedness by industry, government and regulators to respond to one of the biggest environmental catastrophes in Tasmanian history.
As waters continue to warm, and with the prospect of a new antibiotic being approved for use, what can our communities expect for summer 2025-26?
With both major parties giving the industry a green light to proceed with "business as usual", what can we do to respond to the next inevitable emergency?
