“Summer of ’56: Elvis on the Coast” will be presented June through August at the Mary C. O’Keefe Cultural Arts Center in Ocean Springs. The three-month exhibition will feature immersive displays, a speaker series, and community-wide participation celebrating this unforgettable chapter in music and local history. In addition, participating restaurants along the Coast will feature Elvis-inspired food and beverages, offering guests a taste of the flavors and favorites that defined the era.
The “Elvis” undertaking is a partnership between the Mary C. O’Keefe Cultural Arts Center and the Mississippi Gulf Coast National Heritage Area. The exhibition draws on a wealth of recorded interviews, personal interviews, photographs, videos and archival materials that document 1956, the watershed year for Presley.
