Gillian Dooley (voice) and Jeffrey Kong (piano) present a programme of French romantic music by Hector Berlioz, Gabriel Fauré and Claude Debussy. We begin with two works prompted by Paul Verlaine's enigmatic poem Claire de Lune - one for voice and piano, and one for piano solo - followed by Berlioz's transcendently beautiful song cycle 'Les Nuits d'été', a setting of poetry from Théophile Gautier's 1838 collection 'Le Comedie de la mort', in its original setting for voice and piano.
This concert is part of the weekly Tuesday on Flinders series, free and open to all.
