Summer in the Gardens: A Behind the Scenes Guided Tour

Discover Vizcaya’s gardens in bloom with a guided tour led by one of our horticulturists, Ali Hennessey. This seasonal experience highlights the plant species at Vizcaya that flower best in Miami's summertime conditions!

Here’s what you can expect:

• Take in the Sights: Meet the group at the Admissions Booth, where you will continue through the shaded Forecourt, North Walk, and Orchidarium, where you’ll encounter tropical plants that thrive in cooler, low‑light environments.

• Go Behind the Seeds: Embrace Biscayne Bay as you view the Barge along the East Terrace. Your group will stop at the Secret Garden and Rose Garden to explore species that flourish in warm, dry conditions.

• Expert Guidance: Your guide Ali has been a horticulturist at Vizcaya for over two years. Originally from Boston, Ali holds degrees in Architectural Studies and Art History and has worked at several historic gardens. Her work centers on balancing ecological and ornamental horticulture through thoughtful garden design.

• Learn and Grow: Ali will be happy to answer your questions about plant care, maintenance, and the evolution of gardening at Vizcaya. We look forward to welcoming you on this botanical journey.
