Come volunteer with friends and family at Sutton Community Farm on Saturday 6 August
About this Event

We are inviting the public and wider community to come to the farm on Saturday 6 August from 9am - 4pm, to join us in the collective effort of doing summer farming activities.

Come help us plant 100s of kale plants, W**d our fruit areas, and get digging in our Compost Disco.

This event is suitable for friends and family to come and volunteer together, and there's no lower age limit so all children are warmly welcome.

All adults need to book a place, whereas accompanying children don't need to be booked in advance.

Timing for the day:

Morning session: 9am - 12pm

Afternoon session: 1pm - 4pm

You are welcome to come for the whole day (both sessions), but remember to bring lunch with you.

We will provide hot drinks and drinking water throughout the day, but no food. You are welcome to bring food for yourself, a flask for hot drinks, or a water bottle to stay hydrated.

Covid-19

This is a community public event that will take place outside in the fresh air. We are capping the number of attendees to 30 adults per session - so you need to book a free ticket if you wish to attend, it's not possible to show up on the day without having booked in advance.

Please help us keep the event safe by staying at home if you or anyone in your household feels at all unwell.

About Sutton Community Farm

Sutton Community Farm is a 7-acre mixed-crop fruit and veg farm producing over 30 types of veg throughout the year. We deliver directly to over 350 households a week all over south London and Surrey via our online farm shop.

The farm’s purpose is to increase access to fresh, healthy, sustainable food and provide a shared space for people to cultivate skills, get exercise and make new friends. More than 60 volunteers per week come to the farm to help with growing vegetables and packing farm shop orders. The farm also hosts educational visits and has structured training programmes teaching young people about agroecological food growing.

The farm is a Community Benefit Society (a form of co-op), with over 450 members from the local community collectively owning the farm.

You are encouraged to bring your own gardening gloves if you have them, but we have plenty here you can borrow on the day. You don't need to bring any tools.

You should wear comfortable, outdoor clothing that is appropriate for the weather. Layers can help regulate temperature, with a sun hat keeping you cool. Sturdy, comfortable shoes should also be worn. Wearing sun cream is strongly encouraged, even if it's cloudy on the day.
