Avi Salloway is a musician, activist, and educator who has co-written, produced, and recorded on 15 albums and performed over 1,500 concerts across five continents. After living in Los Angeles and Cambridge, MA for many years, he has recently returned to Vermont. Salloway is the bandleader and songwriter for the Billy Wylder band, and previously the guitarist/singer for Bombino, the Tuareg guitar hero from Niger. Salloway has performed at Coachella, New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Montreal Jazz Fest, Carnegie Hall, and Lincoln Center. He has also collaborated with renowned artists including Jack Johnson, The Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Bombino, Tinariwen, David Longstreth (Dirty Projectors), The Low Anthem, Celia Woodsmith, and Pete Seeger.
As an activist, Salloway uses music as a tool to build community, environmental, and indigenous justice, and peace and justice in the Middle East. He will be joined by revered Vermont musicians, including Rob Morse from Hadestown/Vorcza. The music weaves together American folk and rock with sensibilities from the Sahara Desert, exploring new musical space akin to Devendra Banhart, Beck, and Tinariwen.
