Tāla Tarang perform an uplifting and exciting concert showcasing the creativity and flow they have nurtured over their ten year collaboration. Their music is an invigorating East-meets-West fusion, including classic pieces such as Bolero by Ravel, Norwegian Wood by The Beatles, Libertango by Astor Piazzolla and How Deep Is Your Love by The Bee Gees. Mendi's tabla playing has graced stages over five continents, with artists such as Shalil Shankar, Peter Gabriel and Take That. Eleanor has recently appeared on Dave's album 'The Boy Who Played The Harp' and she has toured the world as a solo artist and chamber musician. They also perform original pieces that take shape as they unfold fresh every performance, part composed and part improvised, drawing on themes of nature and spirituality. Mendi and Eleanor also perform traditional Scottish folk music, drawing on Eleanor's roots, classical indian compositions from Mendi's classical upbringing, film music such as Amelie by Yann Tiersen and exciting flamenco music, lending itself to their virtuosity.All welcome, there is good access for mobility aids and an all-gender toilet at the back of the church. Refreshments will be served before the concert and during the interval, including Pimms and lemonade.
